Audi NZ
The Audi NZ project is a gamification project of a vehicle prototype imagined by product designers.
My job
Gamification of a product
Understanding of product and user needs
Design of an adequate game system: a
application
Content Design
Mini-game design

I had to imagine the macro games and think of possible mini games.
Context
Year : 2021
Project type : Gamification
Team : 3 Game designer
Role : Game Designer
Time limit : 2 months
Constraints :
-
Gamification of a comercial product
-
The product being a vehicle
The application
The application allowed us to create, for the user, a social link with many others. It allows the latter to find his goals and has a very “video game” visual. It also has many gamified aspects, the sole purpose of which is to put the user in competition with others.
It also allows you to highlight events planned to build player loyalty.
Mini games
Mini-games are the center of my work as Game Designer on this game. These are the heart of our product gamification. They allow the user to discover and use their product in a fun way.
They reward the customer for their good use of the product, thus highlighting good behavior between road users.
The better the player drives, the more points they will have, which can then be exchanged for cosmetics and other improvements in the application store.
Example of mini-games:
-
Stop at the right place at a stop sign or red light
-
Always respect the speed limit
-
Collect items across the city by traveling there
What did this project taught me
Work with outsider
This project allowed me to work with people outside the world of video games, on a product that had nothing to do with the profession. I realized the difficulty of communication and vision of the project between the professions.
The gamification of a product not initially designed for video games is, for me, more complex than I thought. I had difficulty associating the specificities of the product with fun game mechanics allowing it to be highlighted to a new audience.
Not for me
All the gamification work of a product is interesting but did not seem to be a way for me, at least for now. I prefer to focus on creating game mechanics without the constraint of a real product.
